Isabelle Huppert Expected at Brunello Cucinelli’s Theater

FRENCH VISITOR: Isabelle Huppert will be traveling to Solomeo, Italy, to read “Les Visiteurs du Soir [The Evening Visitors]” by Guy de Maupassant on March 25 at Brunello Cucinelli’s theater. The Italian entrepreneur’s company is headquartered in the 14th-century hilltop medieval village of Solomeo, which he restored over the years, expanding it to also encompass a theater, an amphitheater, and the Aurelian Neo-humanistic Academy, which hosts seminars on philosophy, history, architecture and spirituality. There’s also a vineyard, a library and a school of arts and crafts that teaches masonry, gardening and farming, tailoring, knitting, cutting and sewing, darning and mending.
The village is perched on the hills of this small town 10 minutes outside Perugia, in the central region of Umbria, about a two-hour drive from Florence. At the foot of the village today lies the production factory. One of his long-standing priorities has been to “give moral and economic dignity to artisanal work” and for his employees to function in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, and the theater is also part of his cultural projects.
Huppert was nominated for the 2017 Actress in a Leading Role Academy Award for her role in Paul Verhoeven’s French thriller “Elle.” The role has landed a number of

British Prime Minister Theresa May Wears Custom Charlotte Olympia Shoes for Charity

CUSTOM KITTIES: British Prime Minister Theresa May might divide opinion when it comes to politics, but as far as her taste in footwear is concerned, many in the industry would give the British Prime Minister points for her fashion-forward choices.
On Friday, May marked Red Nose Day by wearing a pair of custom Charlotte Olympia red velvet kitten heels. Red Nose Day is an annual U.K. fund-raiser organized by the charity Comic Relief. It encourages people to embrace their sense of humor and raise money for a variety of charities.
The shoes were a variation of the brand’s signature “Kitty” flats, with vamps shaped like pointy feline ears.
“Theresa May is well-known for her love of shoes, and it was an honor to design a pair especially for Britain’s leading lady,” said Charlotte Dellal, the brand’s founder and creative director. “Comic Relief is a great cause that changes lives for the better and Charlotte Olympia is proud to be associated with the vital work they do.”
The shoes are being auctioned as part of Comic Relief’s “Best Auction Ever.” Jamie Oliver, James Corden and Ed Sheeran are also taking part in the auction.
May has long been a fashion lover and is particularly known for

M.I.A. Hosts Mercedes-Benz Fashion Event

TOMMY’S TIME: “I’m a bit starstruck,” said Steven Tai during a London event hosted by M.I.A. and Mercedes-Benz Fashion to mark the launch of the company’s new campaign concept, #mbcollective.
“Growing up, I listened to M.I.A. It was all a part of that hip-hop vibe — Missy Elliott and all.” The Canadian-born, London-based designer said he was also eager to meet the female Canadian rapper Tommy Genesis, as they both hail from the same country.
Genesis performed songs — including “Kodak” from her latest album” babi.daddi” — for guests including Tai, Malaika Firth, William Fan, Anna October, Xiao Li and Petite Meller.
Designs by Tai, October, Li, Fan and Ran Fan, were featured in the company’s new seasonless campaign that has print, digital, video and social media elements. The Generation Now, Generation Next, #mbcollective fashion story also features three stars alongside their protégés.
During the event, Tai hinted at a unisex collection he’s planning to launch during London Fashion Week: Men’s in January. “This project is a special capsule,” Tai said. “It’s techy! It’s going to be a collection that’s celebrating a retro game that is close to my heart.”
Tai wants to take a more pragmatic approach, and said he plans to use this

Jason Wu Talks Accomplishments, Career, Politics With Valerie Steele

Ten years ago, Jason Wu left Parsons design school with an “innocence” and “naïveté” of wanting to start a fashion business. He worked out of his apartment for six months before getting a studio space, and made his first sales to Saks personally without a sales rep. With the help of friends, and a combination of ambition, talent and curiosity, he now designs his namesake luxury label; sibling collection Grey; Hugo Boss; Asia-only Fila, and has a fragrance launch planned for August. He celebrated 10 years of business with his fall 2017 show this February, which WWD said had a goal to “wow with grace and glamour.”
Fielding questions at his showroom from Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Wu reflected on his trial by fire business beginnings; having food poisoning around Kate Moss; his biggest accomplishments to date, and his thoughts on runway as a tool for political activism, all with an open and humble sense of self-assurance.
Guests of the intimate conversation comprised mainly FIT Couture Council members, in addition to clients of Garde Robe, a luxury museum-quality garment storage and management service that helped put the event together. Wu archives
