EXCLUSIVE: Billie Eilish Signs With Next Models

Billie Eilish, the 16-year-old rising singer who has gained 5 million Instagram followers in 2018 alone, has signed with Next Models for fashion and beauty endorsements.
Eilish, a California native, released her debut EP “Don’t Look at Me” in August 2017 and soon after was named one of Apple Music’s “Up Next” artists. She has sold out four world tours, and a debut album is expected sometime this year. She has taken naturally to the fashion world already, sitting front row at Calvin Klein this past September and performing at a party for Chanel last fall.
“I’m very excited to join the team at Next, and getting to work together on fashion and style, which I am very passionate about,” Eilish says of the signing.
“Billie Eilish breaks boundaries in all that she does,” says Faith Kates, founder of Next Models. “She is amongst the most influential musicians of her generation and we are proud to announce that she has signed to Next Management for fashion and beauty endorsements. The future is bright for Billie and we look forward to working together.”

Tokyo Fashion Week Receives Tepid Reviews With Some Bright Spots

TOKYO — Eagle-eyed buyers at Tokyo Fashion Week discovered some gems beyond the runways — even one that might satisfy despondent Phoebe-philes.
“I think there may be an opportunity for Hyke to gain a bigger following. For people who were fans of Phoebe Philo’s Celine who are now looking elsewhere, Hyke could possibly fill that void,” said Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi, creative director of United Arrows & Sons.
Hyke staged a large-scale show in a rented venue for the first time this season. And while it is already carried by some of the best stores in Japan and across Asia, Kogi believes it may have potential in the West as well.
Tomomi Miyamoto, a men’s wear buyer for Hankyu and Hanshin Department Stores, said she planned to pick up Japanese brand Comoli, which also did not participate in fashion week. “The quality of the materials is unique to Japan, and the designer’s proposal for the way clothes should feel when you wear them is fresh,” Miyamoto said. “I can feel its strength in its conviction to be unshakable by trends.”
Tokyo Fashion Week finished its six-day run on Saturday to largely mixed reviews. After what many considered to be a strong autumn season, the spring 2019 installment generated

Melania Trump Marks Bullying Prevention Month With ‘Wonder’ Screening

Following her recent four-nation tour of Africa and a day trip to a Philadelphia hospital, First Lady Melania Trump continues to raise her profile.
This afternoon, FLOTUS ushered 20 sixth-grade students into the White House’s family theater for a private screening of “Wonder.” This being National Bullying Prevention Month, the Digital Pioneers Academy classmates were given a silver-screen lesson about a boy who is bullied for his facial deformity. Released last year, the flick features Owen Wilson, Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay.
The First Lady’s office indicated that the movie’s message of kindness was the reason she personally selected it even though she had never watched it, according to a press pool report. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos sat in on the matinée at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. While students chomped on popcorn, the First Lady introduced herself and welcomed them to the White House. She also thanked DeVos for being there, and then asked the students how they show their peers kindness, the pool report said.
“As you may know, October is National Bullying Prevention Month and I encourage everybody to be kind to each other, to treat each other with respect in everyday life and social media. Can you do that? Yes? Very

Jason Wu to Be Honored by Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum

The Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum will honor Jason Wu with the second annual Presidents’ Circle Honors Award on Nov. 16 at the Woman’s Athletic Club.
The luncheon will feature Wu in conversation with editor in chief of Michigan Avenue, J.P. Anderson, where Wu will discuss his life, career and fashion outlook.
Co-chairs Annette Findling and Michelle Bibergal will present Wu with the Presidents’ Circle Honors Award on behalf of the Costume Council. The award, named after the 15 presidents of the Costume Council, honors designers who are making an indelible mark in the fashion world.
The event includes a Champagne reception and silent auction, followed by a luncheon and conversation with Wu. Tickets start at $250 and tables are $2,500. All proceeds benefit the Costume Council’s support of the Chicago History Museum.
The museum, at 1601 North Clark Street in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, collects and preserves millions of artifacts, documents and images to help audiences connect to Chicago and its history. Many items in the costume collection were made by Chicago’s dressmakers, milliners and manufacturers. The holdings encompass garments worn by prominent Chicagoans and Americans, including personal items belonging to Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln and Michael Jordan’s basketball uniform.

Tadashi Yanai and Alexander Wang Unveil Collaboration

Tadashi Yanai touched down in Manhattan Tuesday to unveil Uniqlo’s new collaboration with Alexander Wang — an intimates collection designed to keep one toasty with the retailer’s Heattech fabric technology.
Yanai, chairman president and chief executive officer of Fast Retailing and founder of Uniqlo, praised Wang’s ability to balance beauty with tradition, making clear just how important the collaboration was and calling Heattech “our greatest masterpiece.”
This is the second time Wang and Uniqlo have connected, the first being a dress collaboration for spring 2008.
The press conference was held in a former fire house in the Chinatown section that opened first onto a “frozen room” with an Alexander Wang and Uniqlo ice sculpture and a frosted-over street scene with bicycles. Coconut flavored ice sweets were served.
Beyond that was the “hot room,” playing off the idea behind Uniqlo’s Heattech line and featuring looks from the collaboration, encased in the ice or in plexiglass cases.
The line — billed as “a functional apparel designer collaboration” —  brings Wang’s minimal, street aesthetic to the retailer and will be available starting Nov. 9.
In a short conversation in front of reporters from 10 countries, John Jay, president of Fast Retailing’s global creative, and Wang recalled the creative process.
