J.W. Anderson to Join Paris Men’s Schedule

MAN UP: J.W. Anderson, one of London’s most anticipated shows, figures among the new additions to the Paris men’s calendar for January, joining a stellar lineup of heavy hitters and fresh talent.
The move marks a change of strategy for the brand, which last December shifted to a coed display timed with the British capital’s women’s fashion weeks. During the week, founder Jonathan Anderson will also be presenting Loewe’s inaugural men’s show, as the house’s creative director, with the date yet to be confirmed, the Chambre Syndicale confirmed on Tuesday.
Among heavy-hitter additions to the week, Celine will stage its first men’s show, mere months after creative director Hedi Slimane launched its men’s wear division during a coed show on Sept. 28. The show may include a handful of women’s designs. Givenchy is also switching back to the men’s wear fashion calendar, with a presentation planned for Jan. 16, as reported, with Kris Van Assche set to present his first main collection for Berluti.
Other brands scheduled to present on the official runway schedule, representing an international mix of newcomers and returning brands, include Raf Simons, which presented off-schedule in Paris last season after three seasons in New York, Vetements, Jil Sander, Heron

Sneaker Resale Platform Goat Looks to 2019 for Ramp Overseas, New Services

CULVER CITY, Calif. — More people in China are tuning into NBA games than there are people living in the U.S. and Goat chief executive officer Eddy Lu likes the sound of that statistic.
That’s because Lu oversees the sneaker reselling platform Goat, which merged with Flight Club in February. The deal merged digital and brick-and-mortar businesses, now giving the combined entity the muscle to use its size to test new endeavors such as augmented reality, women’s, brick-and-mortar and international expansion.
The business, backed by $97.6 million raised to date, started in 2015 by Lu and Daishin Sugano and was born out of the founders’ own frustration as sneaker buyers who had encountered their fair share of challenges in buying authenticated product. Goat has aimed to change that process. The company authenticates shoes coming in for resale and then ships them out in Goat-branded packaging. Flight Club added a long-standing name in the industry and the additional expertise in physical retail and a concession business model.
The merged entity has gone from 100 to 500 employees over the past year and now counts more than 10 million registered users on Goat. That compares with 2 million users around the same time last year,

Poiret Parts Ways With Yiqing Yin

PARIS — Poiret has parted ways with Yiqing Yin after just two seasons, the label said on Tuesday.
Yin was instrumental in relaunching the historic couture house this year after a 90-year hiatus.
The Poiret trademark was acquired in 2015 by Shinsegae International, a division of the South Korean retail conglomerate that imports foreign brands and distributes them through its department stores.
It named Anne Chapelle, the Belgian entrepreneur behind the Haider Ackermann and Ann Demeulemeester labels, as chief executive officer of the brand.
“The house of Poiret, the Shinsegae group and the ceo, Mrs. Anne Chapelle, wanted to thank Yiqing Yin for her dedication to the Poiret relaunch,” the brand said in a brief statement, without offering further explanation on the split.

EXCLUSIVE: Moschino to Host Men’s 2019 Show in Rome

MILAN — Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott is ready to take Rome, WWD has learned.
The Italian brand will show its men’s fall 2019 and its women’s pre-fall 2019 collections with a special runway event to be hosted the night of Jan. 8 in the Italian capital.
“I have chosen to show the collection in Rome at the historic Cinecittà studios as the show is an homage to the great Federico Fellini who filmed some of his most iconic films there,” Scott said.
“I’ve taken inspiration from his body of work and the amazing characters he has created from the films ‘Roma,’ ‘La Dolce Vita,’ ‘Satyricon,’ ‘8 1/2’ and ‘Casanova,’ to name a few.”
Scott is not the first international designer to choose Cinecittà as the set of his show. In December 2015, Karl Lagerfeld hosted the Chanel Métiers d’Art fall 2015 runway show at the Roman studios, where he recreated the streets of Paris.
The Moschino runway show will coincide with the Florentine men’s trade show Pitti Immagine Uomo, which opens the same day and ends on Dec. 11.
Previously, Scott has shown his men’s collections for the Moschino brand in London, Los Angeles and Milan.
