LVMH Luxury Ventures Takes Minority Stake in Gabriela Hearst

Gabriela Hearst LLC said Monday it has received a minority investment from LVMH Luxury Ventures, an entity within LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Terms of the investment were not disclosed.
In business since 2015, the Gabriela Hearst brand focuses on luxury ready-to-wear and accessories. The designer opened her first flagship store in November at the Carlyle House on Madison Avenue, has developed a robust rtw and accessories business, was the grand prize winner of the International Woolmark Award, and a 2018 finalist for the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award. Her designs reflect a commitment to sustainability.
The company, which is profitable, has sales of more than $10 million. Last March, the company opened a permanent showroom in Paris at 1 Avenue Montaigne in a 2,000-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment.
This is the third investment for LVMH Luxury Ventures. The investment will be used to support the ongoing expansion of the Hearst brand’s presence around the world.
Hearst was not available for comment.
Hearst, who was born in Uruguay, took over her father’s ranch there. Her goal was to create a brand that reflected the slower pace and process, where things are made with care and detail. In her designs, she uses some of the wool from

Mr Porter Celebrates Beams F Global Launch With Milan Party

JAPANESE STYLE: Men’s wear online shopping destination Mr Porter celebrated the global launch of the Beams F brand on its site with a cocktail party Sunday in Milan during men’s fashion week.
Beams F, the tailoring line launched in 1978 by storied Tokyo-based retailer Beams, is setting its global distribution exclusively through the e-tailer, where it will launch as a 31-piece capsule collection, including shirts and suits, which the Japanese brand is specialized in, as well as knitwear and outerwear. The lineup will hit mrporter.com on Jan. 28.
“The event was a wonderful celebration of our continued partnership with Beams, which will be launching its Beams F line exclusively on Mr Porter later this month. Finally, our global customers will be able to access the iconic brand for the first time ever outside of Japan,” said Yoox Net-A-Porter Group chief executive officer Federico Marchetti.
“We’ve had a very close relation with Beams for quite a number of years and we obviously carry about four of the brands that they produce…we were like, ‘We do the casual brands so why don’t we do the luxury tailoring brand?’” said Fiona Firth, buying director for Mr Porter at the launch event, noting over the past year

Giorgio Armani to Hold Coed Show at Silos in February

ARMANI’S MUSINGS: Giorgio Armani revealed on Monday that the first coed show for his namesake brand will take place at the Silos exhibition space in February. The designer said he is looking at “elevating fashion to a different, more elegant level. We are not talking about couture, but ready-to-wear can still [command] an elegant approach and presentation to the audience.” The designer’s perception of the shows this season was of a rushed press running to “huge shows, here and there in Milan.”
“The audience has to be a little bit ‘shocked’ by the clothes but also by the atmosphere that you can create, which is not the one that I saw others have created. It seems to me that I’m in the condition of being able to decide to change that a little bit,” he said.
The designer also lamented a lack of imagination in fashion. “It [worries] me to leaf through a magazine, because we made this in 1968, that in 1975, so it seems to me that it’s repetitive, taking Armani and redoing Armani. I think it’s too easy.”
