Tracy Reese Teams With United Airlines to Suit Up Female Employees

Tracy Reese will skip having a fashion show next month in New York, but she has been focused on another runway — designing uniforms for some of United airlines.
For the past five years, 70,000 staffers have been wearing uniforms (from Cintas) which have had the occasional updates. Reese, along with Brooks Brothers and Carhartt, is using her expertise to get the United team suited up in new looks. Pilots, male flight attendants and customer service reps will wear Brooks Brothers uniforms. Reese has designed uniforms for female flight attendants and customer service reps that will be manufactured by the American sportswear maker and retail chain. Carhartt will be dressing ramp service, technical operations and catering operations employees.
Still in the wear-testing stage, the final uniforms are expected to be rolled out some time in 2020.
The three U.S.-based companies are the latest brands to link up for airline uniforms. British Airways recruited Ozwald Boateng, Delta lined up Zac Posen and Turkish Airlines tapped Ettore Bilotta for their respective uniforms last year.
In a phone interview Thursday, Reese explained that United executives, “said the reason that they came to me really was because their population is very diverse and the women really felt like

State Bags Strikes New Charitable Initiative Inspired by Colin Kaepernick

State Bags, an accessories brand with a give-back model, has today launched its newest charitable initiative inspired by athlete Colin Kaepernick’s famous defiance within the NFL.
The campaign, titled #WhatDoWeTellTheKids: WhyWeKneel is the latest installment of State’s aim to aid in social education programs for children. This particular campaign focuses on local athletics and law enforcement, aiming to bridge a gap between the two.
The brand has photographed and conducted interviews with athletic coaches as well as former NYPD and Marine Corps officers to examine both sides of the argument for kneeling, while also parsing the politics, social actions and public issues of our time.
State Bags has built out a web site with content dedicated to these issues and has also made a donation to Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids to mark its launch.
State cofounder Scot Tatelman said of the initiative in a statement: “As our business has grown, so has our platform and responsibility in using it to shed light on social issues and injustices that impact marginalized populations. Our newest #WhatDoWeTellTheKids project, ‘Why We Kneel’ shares the often lost narrative around Colin Kaepernick by featuring coaches, former NYPD and Marine Corps officers in communities most affected by the issues Kaepernick

Oliver Moores Debuts New Collection as Frescobol Carioca’s New Head of Design

LONDON — Frescobol Carioca, the luxury men’s wear resort brand, has appointed Oliver Moores as the new head of ready-to-wear design to expand the brand’s design offering and to oversee its growth strategy.
Moores previously served as the senior men’s wear designer at Neil Barrett and prior to that, trained at Savile Row. Moores’ debut spring 2019 collection is more daring and bold. It marks a definitive shift for the label and the designer’s intentions to transition into a lifestyle brand.
“There are only a few brands that are doing resort wear and we are missing big, key markets”, said Moores, adding that he has been designing with both the creativity and commercial appeal of clothes in mind.
“I felt that there were so many missed opportunities, there were so many new styles that the brand could be doing such as print and twinsets”, he said.
For the new collection, Moores introduced print, inspired by landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, and color such as mau mau orange and lemon yellow, which Moores said had piqued the interest of buyers and “became the heaviest-bought section for the season.”
“All the pastels and washed-out colors have been some of our bestsellers and only just recently, I’ve injected black into

Naomi Campbell Debuts New Do at Louis Vuitton Men’s

UNITED FRONT: Forget front rows, Virgil Abloh’s posse perched on the steps of a house on a fake street to take in the second Louis Vuitton men’s show by the designer. Guests included Timothée Chalamet, Skepta, Takashi Murakami, Natalia Vodianova and Naomi Campbell who debuted a new short curly do.
Several members of Abloh’s crew sported the single Michael Jackson-inspired white glove that served as the invite, while Kid Cudi was showing off a special customized blinged-out version encrusted with red, white and blue stones.
“He has a one-on-one Louis,” noted Offset who, with the help of his mom, was attempting to wedge a stack of diamond Elliot Avianne knuckledusters onto his glove.
Dressed in a “Louis V” purple mohair sweater with a diamond necklace, the rapper talked about the experience of walking in the Off-White show on Wednesday. “Fire,” he drawled. “It’s an honor to be looked upon as an influence of fashion and I feel great being here. It’s black excellence at its best.”
“Not me, I’m not tall enough,” quipped Don C when asked if he would like to do a turn. He’s in town presenting the fall 2019 collection of his Just Don line, “but it’s all about Virgil today, we’re

Sergio Rossi to Open Permanent Store on Madison Avenue

Sergio Rossi has signed a long-term lease for an 800-square-foot store at 680 Madison Avenue, according to Thor Equities, which owns the property. The Italian footwear company will have plenty of high-fashion neighbors at 680 Madison, or the Carlton House, as the building is known. Missoni recently said it will move from 1009 Madison Avenue and 78th Street to a 3,500-square-foot unit at 680 Madison.
Sergio Rossi doesn’t operate a freestanding store in Manhattan; the brand is sold at Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys New York.
Tom Ford occupies a two-level, 12,300-square-foot flagship along the southwest corner of the same building, but the store has the address 672 Madison Avenue. The designer in 2017 relocated to the new space from 845 Madison Avenue at 70th Street. Other tenants include British fashion house Ralph & Russo, luxury men’s wear brand Brioni and Morgenthal Frederics eyewear.
Built in 1951 by the Astor estate as a hotel, the property, which runs the entire length of Madison Avenue between 61st and 62nd Streets, was later converted to the Helmsley Carlton House before becoming a luxury residential property with 34,000 square feet of retail space.
Madison Avenue has struggled with declining rents and high vacancies since the 2008 recession,
