Dwyane Wade, Bleacher Report Partner on Special Collection

Dwyane Wade may be retiring at the end of the NBA season, but Bleacher Report is making sure his fans have some memorabilia to help send him off in style.
The online sports site today will debut the D. Wade World Tour collection, an exclusive line of apparel designed to commemorate the basketball star’s career.
The collection of T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies and hats is intended to highlight major moments in Wade’s life and include images of him as a child as well as some of his career milestones printed on the back of the pieces to mimic concert tour merchandise.
Prices range from $30 for a Dad hat and $35 for a T-shirt, to $45 for a long-sleeve shirt and $75 for a hoodie.
The line will be promoted through an advertising and social media campaign by both Bleacher Report and Wade that will include a concert tour-style photo shoot with the Miami Heat player.

Lilly Pulitzer Celebrates 60th Anniversary With Commemorative Book

Lilly Pulitzer is releasing its first commemorative coffee table book, “Lilly Pulitzer,” in collaboration with luxury publisher Assouline. The book release celebrates the fashion brand’s 60th anniversary and will be marked by a VIP cocktail reception at its Madison Avenue storefront on Tuesday.
Socialite Lilly Pulitzer founded the brand, known for its eccentric floral prints, in 1959. The book details the history and evolution of the label, including Pulitzer’s invention of the shift dress. “The timing was right to bring the brand to life,” said Esther Kramer, editor in chief of Assouline.
Jacqueline Kennedy and various members of New York’s elite Rockefeller, Vanderbilt and Whitney families donned Pulitzer’s designs. Because of her popularity among high-society clientele, the designer was known as the “Queen of Prep.”
Written by fashion historian Nancy MacDonnell, the book will be available as a special edition and classic edition, retailing for $195 and $85, respectively. The brand is also commemorating the occasion with the release of four new prints: Viva La Lilly, Cheek to Cheek, Lilly’s Pink Bouquet and Lilly’s Palm Beach.

Ones to Watch at the Vegas Trade Shows

It’s go time as buyers and brands once again make the trip to Vegas to stock up on immediates and see what’s ahead. Here, a brief look at some of the brands that are either making their debut on the trade show floors or have a new story to tell retailers.

Backstory: Plenty’s been going on behind the scenes at Bailey/44 for the past six months. The contemporary label has a new president in David Lazar with Micheline Ip tapped as the line’s creative director. Expect subtle injections of sophistication in the brand, which is looking to pirouette into a more diversified offering, while still sticking with the entry-level contemporary price points. Ip brings a decade of experience working at Vince and takes over the design mantle from cofounder Shelli Segal.
“It’s turning to more of a lifestyle [brand]. It’s more of a feeling and a younger vibe so it could be for somebody in their 20s. It could be for somebody in their 30s or 40s,” Ip said of who she’s designing for.
The first delivery with Ip’s work is July 30 with a sportswear-influenced collection set against a primary color backdrop, grounded with gray. There

Bridget Foley’s Diary: Super Gladys

Gladys Knight sang the National Anthem so exquisitely that for millions of non-New Englanders (including this one), she was the highlight of the Super Bowl.
Knight looked and sounded amazing, and her presence heightened the aura of the NFL, which — despite this season’s robust image and ratings comeback after years of sharp decline — continues to have its share of significant p.r. issues.
The presence of an eminence such as Knight as opposed to a hottest-pop-star-du-jour type typically elevates any proceeding. Staying power garners respect under most circumstances. In this case, it took confidence and even courage for Knight to sing the anthem. It was a gig fraught with controversy in light of the NFL’s reaction to former San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s bold “taking a knee” during the anthem to protest police brutality. That action is widely viewed as the reason he’s now an unemployed NFL quarterback, and his supporters flocked to social media to call out any entertainers considering Super Bowl participation.
