Elton John announced the dates for his final tour, dubbed Farewell Yellow Brick Road, via a special tech-infused VR180 live streamed on YouTube on Wednesday.
The 300-plus date global jaunt kicks off on Sept. 8 in Pennsylvania and after it zigzags across the U.S., John will hit Staples Center (1111 S. Figueroa Street) in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Jan. 22, and Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019. He’s also scheduled to perform at Valley View Casino Center (3500 Sports Arena Blvd.) in San Diego on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.
Tickets for all three of those shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2. Tickets for Staples Center shows are $59.50-$249.50 at AXS.com. Tickets for Valley View Casino Center, price TBA, will be available soon at AXS.com. There is also an American Express presale that begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.
There will be more dates and on-sale times announced for shows through 2021, including a yet-to-be-announced stop at Honda Center in Anaheim. Farewell Yellow Brick Road will hit Europe, Asia, South America and Australia before returning to North America for the wrap-up.
The tour marks the end to the 70-year-old entertainer’s half a century on the road and promises fans an all-new stage production with cutting edge visuals and will include songs that span his 50-year career.
“Performing live fuels me and I’m ecstatic and humbled to continue to play to audiences across the globe,” said John via a press release issued on Wednesday. “I plan to bring the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades to my final tour. After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”
