It must be pretty cool to be Alfie Oldman right now, both his parents are nominated for Academy Awards for acting. Gary Oldman is nominated for his role as Winston Churchill in “The Darkest Hour” and Lesley Manville is nominated for her role in “Phantom Thread” opposite Daniel-Day Lewis who is also nominated.

The real winner this year is Alfie Oldman. It’s got to feel pretty damn cool to see both of your parents nominated for Oscars! Congratulations to Gary Oldman and Lesley Manville! #OscarNoms pic.twitter.com/3EVp5NAxmD

“I am rather giddy with excitement at the wonderful news and extremely thankful and grateful that the Academy have honored Paul Thomas Anderson, Daniel Day-Lewis, JoAnne Sellar, Megan Ellison, Daniel Lupi, Mark Bridges and Jonny Greenwood alongside myself with nominations today. It is also quite a day for my son Alfie Oldman – having both parents nominated in the same year,” said Manville.

It’s pretty rare that both parents are nominated for an Academy award. In fact, it’s happened only five other times.

Here are all the children of simultaneously-nominated parents:
