China’s cotton production soars to 6.164 mn tonnes in 2024

China’s cotton production rose 9.7 per cent to 6.164 million tonnes in 2024, driven by a 1.8 per cent expansion in planting area and a 7.8 per cent rise in yield efficiency.
Xinjiang, the top-producing region, boosted its planting area by 3.3 per cent.

UK’s apparel imports from Cambodia hit $675 mn, unisex dominates

The UK imported $675.455 million worth of garments from Cambodia in January-September 2024, with unisex garments dominating at 40.30 per cent ($272.241 million).
Knitwear accounted for 74.10 per cent ($500.491 million) of imports, and trousers & shorts led product types at 31.41 per cent.
Man-made fibre garments made up 49.41 per cent of imports, followed by cotton at 32.04 per cent.Read More
