Egypt’s RMG exports up 27% in March; US top buyer

Egypt’s apparel exports rose by 27 per cent YoY to $262 million in March, the Apparel Export Council of Egypt said.
It aims at doubling exports by 2031 to $12 billion by expanding to African and Asian markets, leveraging Egypt’s trade agreements, enhancing value-added production and modernising manufacturing lines.

South Africa’s textile imports up 7% to $900 mn in Jan-Mar 2025

South Africa imported textiles and textile articles worth 16,746.0 million rand (~$900.86 million) in January–March 2025, up 7.1 per cent year-on-year, while exports rose 7.4 per cent to 5,921.3 million rand.
March imports fell 14.3 per cent from February, but exports surged 33.1 per cent.

Nigeria’s decision to set up Textile-Garment Development Board hailed

The National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria has commended the government for approving setting up of a Textile and Garment Development Board.
It termed the decision a bold initiative to revive the country’s long-neglected textile industry.
