Tom Greyhound to Showcase South Korea’s New Guard

THREE’S A CROWD: Marking its third anniversary, the Paris arm of Hyundai Store Department Group-owned South Korean concept-store Tom Greyhound on March 3 will spotlight three players from South Korea’s new guard.
Gender fluid label Ader Error will present a clothing capsule including a trenchcoat and baseball cap, with a special logo designed for the event; shirting specialist System’s offer will include a shirt with volume details at the sleeves and a leather jacket, and eyewear brand Gentle Monster — which, independently, on March 1 will launch a sunglasses hookup with Tilda Swinton at Colette, Net-a-porter and Saks Fifth Avenue — will present a pair of metallic aviators.
The exclusive creations will be presented in the context of three art installations inspired by South Korean culture, including a reinterpretation of a traditional South Korean cart, and artwork by local artist by Byung Ho Lee.

Clash of the Titans: Karl and Meryl

Milan is proving a season for the ages, without even considering the goods on the runways. How often do you have a story line pitting two honest-to-God living legends, both supreme artists of their genres, against each other? In the throes of the most intense seasons for both, no less? Real news with naked Kardashian-level clickbait promise? Call it the Clash of the Creative-Genius Titans.
It’s a story line in which WWD is involved. And compelling though it is, it’s one about which I feel regret for its negative impact on two people I respect and for whom I have a great deal of admiration, one from afar; the other from the vantage of a 20-year relationship based on trust and honesty. It bothers me that WWD and I are involved in casting a pall over a moment that should be one of pure joy for Meryl Streep. She attended last night’s Oscars in a class by herself, the most nominated actor of all time after her 20th nod, this one for “Florence Foster Jenkins.” And Karl Lagerfeld — the best quote in the business, ever unafraid to speak opinions that, in my experience, have always been grounded in fact.
This is what happened. Backstage at Fendi on Thursday, Lagerfeld

Everything You Need to Know About Charlize Theron’s Incredible Oscar Earrings

Charlize Theron stepped out on the 89th annual Academy Awards red carpet on Sunday wearing a floor-length metallic Dior Haute Couture gown — and quite the statement jewelry. The actress, who is presenting during the ceremony, was dripping in diamond accessories by Chopard. Her look included diamond drop earrings from the brand’s “Garden of Kalahari Collection,” which are set in 18-karat white gold and feature a total of 59.9 carats worth of diamonds. She also wore two diamond rings from Chopard’s “High Jewelry Collection.” She quite literally shined.
Theron won an Academy Award for her lead role in “Monster” in 2004. She was the first South African actress to win an Oscar for Best Actress.

Giorgio Armani Restructures Brands, Rethinks Distribution

MILAN — Consolidation is the new black.
Giorgio Armani is the latest designer to announce a new brand strategy. After his Emporio Armani show last week, he revealed his decision to cease the Armani Collezioni and Armani Jeans brands and use only the Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani and A|X Armani Exchange names. The new strategy will be effective starting with the spring 2018 season. Armani Collezioni and Armani Jeans will be blended into those three main lines. Armani is the latest in a string of designers and companies that have streamlined collections, including Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana and Paul Smith.
Emporio Armani will become “a cluster of ideas,” the designer said, referring to distribution both at retail and wholesale. “We are rethinking our stores. I don’t believe in a strict separation of categories, jackets all in one place, skirts all in another, pants in yet another.”
Armani said the goal was also to “serve a different public, showing different lines within one single space. Customers want to enjoy the shopping experience. Their request is to be entertained. We should keep in mind the meaning of the name Emporio,” the designer said. “It should be an emporium.”

Luella Bartley Named Head of Global Design for Calvin Klein Jeans

Calvin Klein Inc. has looked to London to shore up its Calvin Klein Jeans business.
The company has named Luella Bartley head of global design for Calvin Klein Jeans. In this role, Bartley will oversee design of all Calvin Klein Jeans products globally to achieve one cohesive vision for the brand.
Kevin Carrigan, who resigned in August as global creative director of CKI, had been responsible for Calvin Klein Jeans, among other divisions. He joined Ralph Lauren as senior vice president, creative director, women’s Lauren and Chaps brands in January.
Most recently, Bartley was cofounder and codesigner of Hillier Bartley, a luxury ready-to-wear and accessories company. Earlier, she had a short stint as head of women’s rtw design at Marc by Marc Jacobs, prior to which she owned her own namesake line, Luella for more than 10 years.
Known for her quirky, punk-inspired, British style, Bartley shot to fame with her brand and became London’s darling. She developed a cult following and was the recipient of the “Designer of the Year” award in 2008 by the British Fashion Council as well as an MBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 2010. She also developed successful collaborations with brands such as Mulberry and Target. But Bartley lost her
