Badgley Mischka Resort 2018

Mark Badgley and James Mischka have had the pleasure of dressing Anjelica Huston many times. “She did our anniversary campaign a few years ago and we’re so inspired by her,” Badgley said. They based many of the resort gowns on Huston’s taste of a sleek column or sculptural silhouette with one great detail, which made for a lineup of striking dresses. A black “butter” crepe dress with a deep V and graphic belt was killer. Another gown had a gently fluted white skirt and beaded black top. There were a lot of black and white gowns as well as beaded cocktail minis and some chic separates, but they broke out the color — cobalt blue, magenta, a garden jacquard — on dresses with statement necklines, such as sculpted ruffles or strong portrait cuts. The collection made you want to dress up.

Billionaire Men’s Spring 2018

Hand it to Billionaire — the brand certainly knows how to put on a show. Not for Billionaire the drop-in presentation or standard runway event, but an ear-blasting live performance with a James Bond theme, miles of colored crocodile leather and sparkly pistol motifs.
Monday’s spectacle capped an extravagant two days of entertainment courtesy of The Philipp Plein Group, which bought Billionaire last year. Earlier this week at his signature collection show, there was a live set inspired by “Grease,” with $10 million worth of super cars and an equally expensive croc jackets. Plein Sport, meanwhile, conjured a fight club atmosphere, with professional wrestlers in cages and scantily clad pole dancers.
While the Billionaire presentation wasn’t quite as showy as those, it had its moments: There was a live orchestra and a woman in a long strapless dress belting out Bond themes such as “Diamonds are Forever” and “Goldfinger,” while a lineup of silver fox models — many of them way past 50 — showed off clothing for the older billionaire, as opposed to the Mark Zuckerbergs of the world.
But these are no Warren Buffetts either. Plein’s versions are literally peacocks parading in a palette that took in screaming yellow, hot pink, teal

Antonio Marras Men’s Spring 2018

The protagonist of the American movie “The Beguiled,” played by Clint Eastwood, was the inspiration for Antonio Marras’ spring collection.
In particular, the designer imagined Union soldier John McBurney who, injured on the battlefield, is trapped in a girls’ school and has to take pieces from their dresses to create his own wardrobe. For Marras, that fantasy resulted in a range of patchwork pieces, including wrinkled suits with the jackets and pants decorated with floral jacquard inserts.
Abstract graphics were used on the backs of parkas and field jackets via the mixing and matching of different fabrics, while macramé lace punctuated a cotton front-pocket jacket with coordinated pants and a micro check shirt with tiny ruffles at the cuffs.
Despite the feminine details, the overall look of the collection, which also featured beautiful knits infused with a relaxed elegance, was firmly masculine and reflected the unconventional, rich aesthetic of the brand.

Renzo Rosso Teams With Andrea Bocelli for a Charity Project

MILAN — Italian entrepreneur Renzo Rosso — founder of Diesel and of the OTB Group — and tenor Andrea Bocelli have joined forces and pledged their respective foundations in a charity project. The Only the Brave Foundation and Andrea Bocelli Foundation will rebuild the “Giacomo Leopardi” school in Sarnano, a historic Medieval town located in the region of Marche. The building and the area around it were deeply affected by the earthquake that hit central Italy last August.
“We wanted to help…for a long time now,” Rosso said. “Our philosophy is to follow the initiatives we support from the beginning till the end guaranteeing the respect of timing and investments,” he added, mentioning the restoration of Ponte di Rialto bridge in Venice in 2013 as an example.
Bocelli sounded confident about the success of the project, also considering the previous initiatives his foundation has been involved in since 2011, such as the construction of five other schools in five years.
The restoration work of Sarnano’s school has already been planned and will be started in the upcoming days.
