SHANGHAI–Bridal doyenne Vera Wang is expanding her universe again, linking up this time with Hong Kong-headquartered Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group to produce a fine jewelry collection to cater to the modern Chinese bride.
“Vera Wang Love” will debut on Oct. 19 in Chow Tai Fook Shanghai stores before expanding to other key cities including Beijing, Chengdu, and Hong Kong. It builds on top of her existing offerings in the space via “Simply Vera Vera Wang” jewelry, as well as deals for homeware, and her core ready-to-wear and gowns business.
The collection will span 18K gold and platinum engagement rings, as well as wedding bands and fine fashion jewelry, with a starting price point of about $400.
Traditionally speaking, gold and jade usually adorn brides in China but the two sides said couples in greater numbers are starting to “incorporate diamond jewelry into traditional engagements.”
Wang has found a powerful partner in Chow Tai Fook, one of the world’s largest jewelers with nearing 3,000 points of sale across China. The group’s other brands include Chow Tai Fook T Mark, Hearts On Fire, Monologue, and SOINLOVE.

HOMEGROWN ENVELOPE OPENERS: With Fashion Group International’s “Night of Stars” just a few weeks away, winners are lining up their presenters, and several are keeping things local.
Superstar honoree Vera Wang is going with her nearest and dearest, the one-two punch of Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. Guests at the Oct. 25 event at Cipriani’s Wall Street will find the usual galaxy of fashion designers in the crowd.
Fashion Star winner Olivier Rousteing is still mulling over his choices. That’s also the case with Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the creative team behind Opening Ceremony and Kenzo. Another Fashion winner, Anna Sui, will have her favorite designer, Marc Jacobs, do the honors at the podium.
Luxury Lifestyle winner Moncler needs more time to ruminate. That is not the case with Beauty Star honoree Frederic Malle, who has recruited Barneys New York’s Daniella Vitale as her presenter.
While Humanitarian Award winner Barbara Bradley Baekgaard for Vera Bradley and Design Technology victor Billie Whitehouse for Wearable X are in the need-more-time category, Sustainability award winner Maria Cornejo will pick up her prize from “Avengers” actor and fellow environmentalist Mark Ruffalo.

ZOE’S NEW PROJECT: Gymboree, which was rebooted in July with a new on-trend line of apparel and accessories and a redesigned experience in stores, turned to Rachel Zoe to help further amp up the brand. The celebrity stylist, who has two children, Skyler Morrison Berman, age seven, and Kaius Jagger Berman, four, will curate holiday looks and codesign a collection for spring. Zoe last month showed her 31st ready-to-wear collection of her eponymous brand in Los Angeles.

Zoe created a video of her favorite dressed-up styles from Gymboree’s holiday collection, which can be seen at gymboree.com. Her picks, which include looks for special occasions and family photos, are available in stores and online today. A boys’ metallic silver Windbreaker and girls’ denim jacket with faux fur collar, are two standout items. A holiday gift collection will bow in early November with Zoe’s choices for boys and girls. Rachel Zoe x Gymboree, a limited-edition collection of clothing and accessories for boys and girls, will be launch in the spring with a fresh and pretty sensibility for girls’ styles and cool California aesthetic for boys’ looks.
