The Attico to Skip Milan Fashion Week

EXPERIMENTING WITH NEW FORMATS: The Attico is skipping Milan Fashion Week.
On Tuesday, the brand’s founders and creative directors Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio communicated their decision with a personal e-mail, where they also explained their strategy for the season, which they described as an “experiment.”
According to the designers, The Attico fall 2020 collection will be unveiled closer to the time it will hit the stores.
“Instead of the blast of the presentation followed by six months of silence until the clothes get available in the stores, the launch will be immediately followed by the delivery to the shops,” Tordini and Ambrosio wrote in the e-mail. “Communication and sales will be aligned because what we care about most is what women love, do and wear. This move is also part of a global strategy aimed at satisfying our customers in a more organic way.”
According to the brand, the strategy will be unveiled one step at a time to “further engage with the public.”
“Skipping the presentation is not the final solution, it’s just feels right now,” they added. “When The Attico was launched, it was part of the boom of the digital culture. The online is fantastic, but it’s not enough. Experiences are

Gucci Opens Chicago Pop-up in Time for NBA All-Star Weekend

GUCCI GETS IN THE GAME: With a psychedelic-looking GG basketball, a West Loop pop-up shop and even a Gucci-themed pin showing up on Google Maps, Gucci is all set to kick off the NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago on Friday.
Located at 160 North Morgan Street, the pop-up will feature the Italian fashion house’s rainbow-colored GG Psychedelic Collection, which is debuting in Gucci stores and online this month. The assortment will include the exclusive basketball, in honor of the NBA All-Star Weekend, retailing for $1,980, as well as fashion accessories, shoes and apparel.
On Saturday at the pop-up, players from the NBA and WNBA will turn out to help celebrate the two Chicago-based recipients of the Gucci North America Changemakers Impact Fund: After School Matters, a nonprofit organization that provides after-school program opportunities to about 19,000 high school teens each year, and Braven, a nonprofit that helps college students transition to their careers by partnering with universities and employers.
The West Loop pop-up is part of the brand’s themed “pin” pop-up stores, and represents the third pin since Gucci launched the concept last November at Denver’s Cherry Creek Shopping Center. NBA All-Star Weekend runs from Feb. 14 to 16, and the Gucci pop-up

YNAP Among Partners of ‘Homo Faber’ Exhibit to Bow in Venice

ARTSY-CRAFTY:  Yoox Net-a-porter is among the supporting partners of the upcoming “Homo Faber: Crafting a More Human Future” exhibition organized by the Geneva-based nonprofit Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship and bowing at Venice’s Fondazione Giorgio Cini next fall.
Running Sept. 10 to Oct. 11, the exhibit is aimed at showcasing, promoting and eventually preserving international crafts in different fields, this time focusing on European and Japanese talents, as well as on the interconnections between the two countries.
Covering a 43,055-square-foot space, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, located on Venice’s San Giorgio island, will house 17 exhibition spaces, each dedicated to a particular craft, with displays designed by guest curators, architects and artists including Robert Wilson, Jean Blanchaert, Michele De Lucchi and Stefano Boeri, among others.
YNAP will be at the center of one of the rooms in the exhibition showcasing the outputs of the Modern Artisan project it unveiled late last year in partnership with Prince Charles’ foundation, as reported. The Anglo-Italian alliance is aimed at supporting young artisans by marrying artisanal and data-driven design. The project brought together six students from Italy’s Politecnico di Milano and six U.K. graduates to work on design projects and undergo training that will help them gain
