PVH Corp. and the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University celebrated their new partnership Tuesday night at Calvin Klein headquarters at 209 West 39th Street.
In a packed house, PVH staffers and executives, including PVH chairman and chief executive officer Manny Chirico and president Stefan Larsson, mixed and mingled with Fordham alums and administrators, including Father Joseph M. McShane, Fordham University president; Donna Rapaccioli, dean of the Gabelli School of Business, and Mario Gabelli, donor of the The Gabelli School of Business.
Chirico said the company has donated $1 million over a five-year period to develop students into ethical and conscientious business leaders.
“I started a discussion with Fordham about a year ago,” Chirico told WWD. “In the whole education process, there’s such a focus on the marketing and technical side of the business. What about the ethics and the whole discussion of how a corporation is run, and what’s the broader purpose besides next quarter’s earnings?” he said.
A range of diverse programming and opportunities are being offered, including a quarterly lecture series, several research programs for both faculty and students and new academic offerings for undergraduate and graduate students.

New York Fashion Week, which begins Feb. 7, will usher in scores of new runway looks for the fall 2020 season, but the bigger news could be the industry-wide shifts that are happening off the catwalk.
A number of heritage New York-based brands are skipping out on the New York runway entirely, including the likes of Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Jeremy Scott and CFDA chairman Tom Ford.
The 2020 Oscars, taking place on Feb. 9, are also throwing a wrench into the NYFW schedule, which could impact stars’ red carpet looks and whether Hollywood’s A-list will be sitting front-row at the shows (most of them haven’t been for quite a few years anyway).

Creative Artists Agency is adding Alessandra Ambrosio to its growing list of fashion clients as it continues to expand its fashion department. The Hollywood talent agency, which recently added models Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel and Winnie Harlow to its roster, has now signed the Brazilian-born model for representation.
Ambrosio is best known as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, a role she took on from 2004 to 2017. She was the lingerie company’s first spokesmodel for their Pink line in 2006.
Signed with international modeling agency IMG Models, Ambrosio has continually been named in Forbes’ list of highest-paid models. She’s been the face of brands Christian Dior, Omega, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi, among others, and has walked the runway for the likes of Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs and Kenzo.
Ambrosio — whose publicist is Milan Blagojevic at Full Picture — has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Cosmopolitan; made television appearances on “Project Runway,” “The Tyra Banks Show” and “How I Met Your Mother,” and appeared in the films “Daddy’s Home,” “Daddy’s Home 2” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.”

This spring, H&M Group will be the first retailer to sell clothes out of Circulose.
What is Circulose? It’s a new natural material for fashion made by upcycling used clothes and fashion waste, produced by Swedish fashion firm Re:newcell, in which H&M Group took a minority stake in 2017.
Re:newcell was founded by innovators from Stockholm’s KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) in 2012, bearing its first Circulose “prototype” just two years later: a yellow dress that would be touted as the “first garment in the world made from chemically recycled textiles.” Since then, the firm has raised $20 million from investors such as H&M Group through its investment arm Co:Lab, The Mills Fabrica and KappAhl.
The Circulose fabric is made of 100 percent cotton recovered from used clothes and fashion production waste, but can also employ viscose, as is the case with the launch with H&M. The group refrained from revealing details in the project, but said it will be available online and in-store globally this spring, made from a mix of 50 percent Circulose recycled from used cotton jeans (not provided by the Group) and 50 percent viscose from FSC-certified wood.
