The Farewell Tour: Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Return to U.K. for Final Round of Official Visits

LONDON — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will bid adieu to their royal duties this week with a final series of visits before they officially withdraw as working members of the royal family. Their final tour will run from Thursday, March 5 through Monday, March 9, with all events taking place in London.
It’s not exactly a grueling schedule, with the couple set to undertake one engagement per day. The couple have left their infant son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, at home in Canada and there is even speculation — fueled mainly by the bookies — that the couple will announce that Megan is pregnant once again.
Harry, as he wants to be called now, is already in London: Last week, he hosted an eco-friendly travel summit for his Travalyst initiative. A few days later he joined Jon Bon Jovi and the Invictus Games Choir at Abbey Road Studios. They recorded the charity song, “Unbroken.”
On Thursday, Meghan will join him at the Endeavour Fund Awards for wounded soldiers at Mansion House in the City of London. On Friday, Harry will attend the opening of the Silverstone U.K. Experience, a new racing museum, with Lewis Hamilton.
Over the weekend, the couple will be at Royal Albert Hall for

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Embark on Royal Tour of Ireland

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are back in Ireland.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have returned to the country for a three-day trip following their royal tour of Ireland last year.
The couple landed in Dublin on Tuesday, with the duchess paying homage to the country by dressing in an emerald green Catherine Walker coat and an Alessandra Rich printed-green dress. Middleton routinely pays respect to the traditions and cultures of the countries the couple visits, having done so during their royal tour of Pakistan last fall.
The trip is meant to “highlight the many strong links between the U.K. and Ireland,” according to a press release from Kensington Palace. “From its thriving cities to rural communities, the program will take in Ireland’s rich culture, its impactful community initiatives and spectacular scenery.”
The couple spent their first day meeting with President Michael Higgins and Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, as well as making a visit to the Garden of Remembrance, which is dedicated to those that lost their lives fighting for Irish independence.

Azzedine Alaïa and the Art of Taking Time

SLOW FASHION: Azzedine Alaïa was notorious for taking his time.
“I remember him calling me about a dress I’d wanted him to lend me for an exhibition, to ask me if I still needed it,” remembered curator Olivier Saillard, speaking at an event at the bookstore of the Azzedine Alaïa Association on Monday. “Unfortunately, the exhibition had opened several weeks prior.”
Saillard was one of the many names to have contributed to “Taking Time,” a book of conversations between Alaïa and his close friends, published by Actes Sud in French and Rizzoli in English on March 11.
Compiled by French writer Donatien Grau, the tome also features words by actress Charlotte Rampling; filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky; artist Julian Schnabel; designer Ronan Bouroullec, and dancer Blanca Li.
Naomi Campbell, a close friend of the late designer, wrote the preface, which was read out at the launch event. “Most of these conversations happened around Papa’s kitchen table,” wrote the model, using her nickname for the couturier.

“Taking Time” by Azzedine Alaïa and Donatien Grau.

“We started this book in 2013,” Grau explained during a talk presenting the book to the audience. “Contrary to most designers, like Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli and Mary Quant, Azzedine never wished to write down

Ralph Lauren to Cancel April Fashion Show Due to the Coronavirus Outbreak

Add Ralph Lauren to the list of companies that are canceling events due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Lauren said Tuesday night it has decided to cancel its April fashion show, which was planned for an unspecified location in New York.
“In light of the ongoing uncertainties related to the novel coronavirus around the world, we have decided to cancel our fall 2020 show as a precautionary measure and out of respect for our teams, partners and consumers. Our primary focus remains on their health and safety,” said a Ralph Lauren spokesman.
As reported, Lauren didn’t participate in New York Fashion Week in February and had instead decided to show separately in late April. Lauren had been on the “see-now-buy-now schedule” since September 2016, and he was planning to get out of that rhythm and routine and show fall 2020 in April.
