Elton John announced the dates for his final tour, dubbed Farewell Yellow Brick Road, via a special tech-infused VR180 live streamed on YouTube on Wednesday.

The 300-plus date global jaunt kicks off on Sept. 8 in Pennsylvania and after it zigzags across the U.S., John will hit Staples Center (1111 S. He’s also scheduled to perform at Valley View Casino Center (3500 Sports Arena Blvd.) in San Diego on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019.

Tickets for all three of those shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2. Tickets for Staples Center shows are $59.50-$249.50 at AXS.com. Tickets for Valley View Casino Center, price TBA, will be available soon at AXS.com. There is also an American Express presale that begins at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.

There will be more dates and on-sale times announced for shows through 2021, including a yet-to-be-announced stop at Honda Center in Anaheim. Farewell Yellow Brick Road will hit Europe, Asia, South America and Australia before returning to North America for the wrap-up.

The tour marks the end to the 70-year-old entertainer’s half a century on the road and promises fans an all-new stage production with cutting edge visuals and will include songs that span his 50-year career.

“Performing live fuels me and I’m ecstatic and humbled to continue to play to audiences across the globe,” said John via a press release issued on Wednesday. “I plan to bring the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades to my final tour. After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”

Viktor & Rolf Couture Spring 2018

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren created the entire collection from the same fabric: a technical satin duchesse from Japan, a noble cloth that for the design duo “spells couture.”
“We’ve noticed in our career we often set ourselves certain restrictions, and it generates creativity for us,” Snoeren said backstage.
The design duo ticked off a run of best-of silhouettes while they were at it. The opening woven minidress recalled the hessian dress worn by Maggie Rizer in the label’s fall 1999 collection, for instance, with signature elements like cape shapes, flowers, bows, frills and ruffles adding texture to the collection.
Long silk gowns and skirts cut on the bias sported bold colored stripes or geometric motifs sewn into the fabric, recalling granny patchworks.
The standouts included a double-breasted blue and red striped blazer with a royal-blue frill framing it, running from the collar down the sleeves.
The collection had an old-school couture vibe but was wearable, with the highlights including a green silk minidress with 3-D daisies.
The newness in the colorful lineup mixing conservative and clownish attitudes came not only in the innovation, with the designers managing to create new materials using the fabric, but also in its sustainable bent.
“In the past seasons we’ve been

Maison Margiela Spring 2018 Couture

For whom do we dress, and for what? For our true selves, for real-life situations and the people we come in contact with therein? Or do those now matter less than the selves we create for social media and the audience we find there?
That sometimes antagonistic dialogue between real life and fictionalized Instagram life has been a topic of conversation for some time. In his Maison Margiela Artisanal collection on Wednesday morning, John Galliano officially brought the question into the world of haute couture at a spot previously unexplored — its very core. In the lust for social media relevance, couturiers, like the rest of fashion, have pushed hard to capture the small screen-viewing audience, opting for elaborate, picture-perfect sets and fancy-folk front rows (well, fancy doesn’t always apply, but you the get the drift). Galliano took it a dramatic step further. He played to the camera with the clothes themselves.
Don’t they all? No, they don’t. Not this way; not so far. “When I came back [after the Dior exit],” Galliano said before his show, “I saw that people were watching shows differently — like this,” he extended his phone arm. “They’re not watching the show. They’re taking pictures of the show.”

Akris Pre-Fall 2018

A journey last summer to Santa Fe, N.M., sparked the idea for this pre-fall collection. Albert Kriemler found the light there extraordinary, and that led to his use of certain colors, like iris.
“I could see how people are relaxed in all aspects of life [there],” said the designer, adding that includes fashion. “I loved the whole ease.”
His collection — with a focus on some super soft denim pieces, like jeans in blue or a reddish hue — channeled just that. Practicality was paramount, with most pieces meant to be mixed and matched and, when possible, were made reversible, like the shearling coat.
The iris color blossomed in a suit for women made in a tweedy cashmere fabric and in a twisted wool challis dress. Another standout piece was a twisted cotton trench, which could be sported as a dress or a coat.
This easy-to-wear pre-fall line was chockablock with sublime luxury fabrics Kriemler developed. It also included some colorful geometric looks — another nod to interior, textiles and furniture designer Alexander Girard, whose work Kriemler traveled to Santa Fe to see and that served to inspire Akris’ last spring collection.

Elie Saab Couture Spring 2018

Here comes a woman who welcomes attention. Elie Saab kicked off his fall couture show with this message, sending her slinking down a grand staircase, ever so slowly. We’re in the jazz age. Where else can you pull off a stage show entrance, covered in ostrich feathers, beaded from head to toe — starting with the head cap — and look classy?
The Lebanese designer worked a palette of the era’s Champagne range, with pale gold and dusty pink, sparkling, all of it. The rhinestones were larger than life, and, along with the beadwork, built a shimmery gold and silver blend, accented by soft, sky blue feathers.
In tufts, they added heft to the shoulders of a minidress, the skirt loose, and lengthened behind by a train attached to the waist — another element of the show-opening dress. The feathers also appeared in dusty rose, serving as puffs on the wrists or in strips, running down a long skirt, to add volume — the kind that floats.
Energizing the red carpet is Saab’s forte; this season, he tackled the job with added efficiency, making it jazzy and subtle all at once.
Elegance was ensured by the infusion of Art Deco references, like patterns delineated

Arjé Spring RTW 2018

For spring ready-to-wear, husband-and-wife team Bessie Afnaim Corral and Oliver Corral fashioned an array of jackets, tunics and long, wide-leg trousers for women, meant for layering. Clothing for every occasion is their target, which is why the pair made a vest with sleeves that can be unbuttoned and removed. The designers launched their brand a year ago and shuttle between New York and Italy to be close to suppliers.
But back to the layers. Strip off the vest to show the tunic — also in the same navy and khaki pin-striped material — cotton viscose silk. It hangs low, held up by spaghetti straps, the front panel falling mid-thigh while the back panel is lower, practically to the knees.
For a playful touch, people making the garments are invited to choose a spot for a tiny label printed with the evil eye — she’s Turkish. It could be in the pocket. For the men, wide-sleeved sweaters and a double-breasted suit vest channel the brand’s easy-to-wear essence. These designers like things slouchy, that is, comfortable.

Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Designs Featured on New U.K. Stamps

POST IT: British design duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are being honored by their native Isle of Man with a series of stamps featuring some of the most famous designs of Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.
The stamps, which will launch during London Fashion Week, feature dresses such as a red corseted, midi number worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, a yellow body-hugging one worn by the likes of Amy Winehouse and Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as popular styles from recent collections such as a ruched velvet dress and a floral padded jacket.
Prices for the stamps range from 1 pound to 1.86 pounds.
Maxine Cannon, general manager of the Isle of Man stamps and coins, said the new stamp series aims to emphasize homegrown talents and the advantages of growing up in a small community.
Thornton added that the island has always informed the label’s design aesthetic: “We draw on the colors and the raw beauty of the island, the diversity of the landscape and memories from our childhood which have been a great inspiration. From the fishing boats and the lobster pots, to the colors of the promenade, to the sea and the changing seasons, the pagan history and the Celtic symbols
