Reebok’s Todd Krinsky Heads Up New Performance Business Unit

A MEASURED PERFORMANCE: Like other, more established athletic brand competitors, Reebok’s heritage is rooted in performance and now the company has set up a division dedicated to that — the Reebok Performance Business Unit.
At the helm of that sector is 25-year company veteran Todd Krinsky who has been named general manager. The brand’s running and training business units have been consolidated into its new Performance Business Unit. Fittingly, Krinsky earned his post for his own performance as general manager of Reebok’s Classic Business Unit. Leading that business, he helped to generate double-digit percentage gains for year-on-year growth over the past six years. Krinsky reports to Reebok president Matt O’Toole.
Big-name branding has been a key part of Reebok’s Classic Business’ upward climb. Gigi Hadid is the latest celebrity to appear in Reebok’s “Always Classic” campaign. With the spring campaign, the IMG model joined the ranks of Ariana Grande, Rae Sremmurd, Teyana Taylor, Lil Yachty, K-pop star Somi, street artists Felipe Pantone and SANY and model Sharina Gutierrez. Interestingly, Reebok’s Performance Unit will take on more of a lifestyle edge. Noting how the company has developed “strong credibility in the fitness world” in recent years, Krinsky said, “Today, our Delta symbol serves

Serge Brunschwig Arrives at Fendi

MILAN — “It’s a great responsibility, Fendi is a jewel and I’d like to make it shine even more. It’s an exciting task,” said Serge Brunschwig, three days into his new post as chairman and chief executive officer of Fendi.
Ahead of the brand’s runway show, Brunschwig informally talked about his arrival at the company and what drew him to it. “I didn’t need to be convinced, I asked for it,” he said with a laugh. “I am friends with [former chairman and ceo] Pietro [Beccari] so I had the inside advantage , but it was all very sudden. When I saw effective immediately — wow,” he said, pretending to read the release announcing his arrival.
Brunschwig joins the Rome-based luxury company from Dior Homme, where he has held the title of chairman and ceo since September 2015, while Beccari earlier this month became chairman and ceo of Christian Dior. Brunschwig reports to Antonio Belloni, LVMH Group managing director. Sidney Toledano, the former Christian Dior Couture chairman and ceo, recently took over as executive chairman of LVMH Fashion Group, also was at the show. It was telling that the three executives attended the show, flanking Brunschwig, and showing a united front.

Alexandra Shipp on Being True to Yourself

SHIPP SHAPE: Alexandra Shipp is the kind of person that offers to warm your hand as she shakes it on a cold winter morning in Milan. Best known for her role as the superhero Storm in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” she was eager to talk about her next film ahead of the Max Mara show. “Love, Simon” is based on the popular book “Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda” and due in theaters on March 16.
“It’s the first time a major studio — Fox 2000 — takes on a LGBTQ subject along the lines of “Sixteen Candles” or “Breakfast Club” and what coming out means for a young man,” Shipp said, referring to two iconic Eighties films.” It’s an invitation to be true to yourself, to who you are and not be defined by who you sleep with. It’s about integrity.” Shipp won’t linger in Italy as she is due back in the U.S. to promote the movie. No complaints from the actress, except perhaps for the travel fatigue, which she waved away in light of the opportunity to talk about the script. “I’m happy to do that. I believe it can save a lot of lives. The most important thing is to be true to

Naeem Khan Designs Feathered Dress for Houston Gala Chair

BLACK SWAN: Guests at The Houston Ballet Ball were encouraged to don black, white or a mix of both as an ode to Tchaikovsky’s ballet “Swan Lake,” but Houston Ballet Ball chair Hallie Vanderhider took the concept further — much further, enlisting the design prowess of Naeem Khan to create her feather-laden gown.
Vanderhider and Tootsies creative director Fady Armanious flew to New York and met with Khan to discuss a gown that would capture the elegance and dark beauty that Vanderhider had envisioned for the ball. Within a few sketches, the trio had landed upon an all-black gown covered in 3,500 natural black coque feathers, weighing in at 7.25 pounds.
“It was a magical moment. Naeem totally captured the essence of Swan Lake,” Vanderhider said. “He is such an amazing talent and has a great sense of humor.”
Khan encouraged Vanderhider to embrace the mysterious elements of the dress, reminding her, “This isn’t a mother-of-the-bride gown.” The gown’s sheer long sleeves and bodice were finished with intricate beading.

Kris Van Assche to Cohost Isamu Noguchi Exhibition Opening

LIGHTS OUT: Kris Van Assche’s Art Basel Miami Beach dinner at the Webster boutique in December — presenting Dior Homme’s Black Carpet collection under the glow of a series of original Akari light sculptures by Isamu Noguchi, plus six lights customized by Van Assche himself — has turned into a traveling exhibition.
Tonight, the designer is cohosting the opening of an amped-up exhibition of light sculptures — 42 in total — by the late Japanese-American artist and architect including new customized works by Van Assche.
The designer printed black-and-white shots of flowers taken for his Instagram series onto rice paper before painstakingly gluing them to Noguchi’s ultra-delicate handmade lanterns, creating a street poster, collage effect.

“I am attracted by contrasts and wished to confront the poetry of flowers and of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with the urban and contemporary angles of Instagram and street art. For this project, it was essential for me to respect the artistic essence of Isamu Noguchi’s work,” said the designer. “We selected the paper very carefully and worked by hand to respect the construction of the original lamps.”
The lamps will be presented in a new scenography by Jean de Piépape, with artist
