Egypt’s RMG exports rise 22% YoY in Jan-Apr 2025, 25% YoY in Apr: AECE

Egypt’s garment exports rose by 22 per cent YoY during the first four months of 2025, reaching $1.028 billion, the Apparel Export Council of Egypt said.
Such exports rose by 25 per cent YoY to $223 million in April by 23 per cent YoY to $254 million in March.
The US was the top RMG export destination, with exports to there totalling $384 million in the period—a 11-per cent rise increase YoY.Read More

PBoC likely to cut key rate further as policy eases, says Fitch

PBoC may implement further cuts to its seven-day reverse repo (RR) rate in 2025, following a reduction to 1.4 per cent in May, according to Fitch Ratings.
This aligns with its shift to a ‘moderately loose’ monetary stance.
Fitch now considers the seven-day RR as China’s main policy rate.

South Africa’s textile imports up 2.3% to $1.2 bn in Jan-Apr 2025

South Africa imported textiles and textile articles worth 21.56 billion rand (~$1.2 billion) in Jan–Apr, up 2.3 per cent year-on-year, while exports rose 5.1 per cent to 7.96 billion rand.
April saw a monthly decline in imports but a slight rise in exports.
In 2024, annual imports grew 10 per cent, and exports increased 1.8 per cent, reaffirming South Africa’s position as a net importer in this segment.Read More
