Cal State Fullerton’s Colton Eastman picks up more honors for strong season pitching

Cal State Fullerton pitcher Colton Eastman picked up more honors last week when he was listed on D1Baseball.com‘s All-America First Team and was named to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I West All-Region First Team.

Eastman’s D1Baseball.com All-American nomination makes it 21 consecutive years Cal State Fullerton has boasted at least one All-American and it’s the first time the Titans have had a first-team All-American since 2016, when Eastman was also named to the publication’s first team.

The Fresno native went 9-3 during the regular season and boasted a 2.26 ERA in 103.2 innings pitched to go along with 108 strikeouts. He held opponents to just a .198 batting average.

Eastman dominated in the Big West Conference as well. He was named to the league’s First Team and earned Big West Pitcher of the Year honors.

He opened conference play by tossing the fifth no-hitter in school history to garner his third career Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award as well as national accolades. The right-hander allowed just one walk and struck out seven as he went the full nine innings in a 3-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on March 29.

Eastman joined Longo Garcia (1987), Ted Silva (1995), Kirk Saarloos (2001) and Justin Garza (2014) in the Titan no-hitter club, but was the first among that five to throw the no-hitter on the road.

Earlier, Eastman was named a Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America Second Team All-American. He also earned a spot on the All-Stanford Regional Team.
